The Importance of Golf Etiquette

At the Restigouche Golf Club, we believe that rules are the cornerstone of a harmonious golfing environment. By adhering to established guidelines, we ensure that every round is enjoyable and safe for both members and guests. Our rules are designed to protect the course, maintain pace, and foster a respectful atmosphere, allowing everyone to appreciate the game to its fullest. Join us in upholding these standards to preserve the integrity and enjoyment of golf for all.

The members of the Restigouche Golf and Country Club can enjoy a variety of different benefits. Golf Etiquette

Must be dressed appropriately.
What to wear:
▪ Collared golf shirt or top
▪ Shorts, skirts, skort or pants
▪ Golf shoes or sneakers

What not to wear:
▪ Jeans
▪ Short shorts
▪ Ripped or damaged clothing
▪ Sweatpants
▪ Inappropriate slogan, vulgar quotes, or sayings

❖ Be at the First Tee, ready to play at the agreed upon time.
❖ Give all players, regardless of ability, sex, or age all courtesies.
❖ If you are moving slowly or looking for a lost ball, invite the golfers behind you to play through. Once you have motioned these players to play through, you must not resume playing until they are out of range.
❖ Smooth out (rake) all club marks and footprints before leaving a Bunker.
❖ Do not pull a cart through a Bunker (Sand Trap) or over a Green.
❖ Replace all divots, your own and others whenever possible.
❖ Delay hitting your ball until players in front of you are well out of range. Be on the alert to shout “Fore” should your ball be headed toward another player.
❖ Golf carts must stay at least 20 yards away from greens and respect cart boundaries in place on various holes.
❖ Do not scuff Greens with your spikes or clubs, and do not walk in another player’s line of putting.
❖ Do not speak or move when you are near another golfer who is about to play.
❖ Do not allow your shadow to fall in a player’s line of vision while he/she is hitting.
❖ Leave the putting green promptly after holing out. Mark your scorecard at the next tee while the others hit.
❖ Feel free to consult the Director of Golf Operations, your Club Captain, or his committee for any interpretations of the above guidelines to better golfing.
❖ Alcoholic beverages bought outside of the golf club will not be permitted on the course.

Common Inquiries About Our Golfing Rules

What is the expected pace of play?

We encourage all players to maintain a pace of play that allows for a round to be completed in approximately four and 1/2 hours. This helps ensure that everyone can enjoy their game without unnecessary delays.

Are there specific rules for using power carts?

Yes, power carts should be kept on designated paths whenever possible. Power carts are to remain a minimum of 40’ from the greens at all times and on cart paths at the Tee Box and on the Par 3’s.

What is the dress code on the course?

We ask all players to adhere to a smart casual dress code. Collared shirts and appropriate golf attire are recommended to maintain the club’s standards. (No muscle shirts)

Courtesy on the Course

2. Fix your plug marks on the putting greens

3. Please rake the bunkers after you’ve played from them.
